Chalio ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform at chalio.co and any related services.
We collect the following categories of information: (a) Account Information: when you create an account, we collect your username, email address, password (encrypted), and optional profile bio and photo. (b) Financial Information: we do not store your payment card details directly. All payment information is processed and stored by Stripe, Inc. We store records of transaction amounts, competition entries, and prize records for platform operation purposes. (c) Competition Data: we collect and store all challenges you create, competition entries you place, free predictions you make, proof submissions you upload, and outcomes associated with your account. (d) Usage Data: we automatically collect information about how you interact with the Platform, including IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent, and referring URLs. (e) Communications: if you contact us directly, we may retain records of that correspondence. (f) Challenger Profile Information: when creating a challenge, users may optionally provide personal information including a personal bio, reasons for expected success, age, location, fun fact, and social media handles for Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, and YouTube. This information is voluntarily provided and publicly displayed on challenge listings. (g) Balance and Transaction Data: we maintain records of your Chalio balance, all deposits made through Stripe, all entry fees paid, all prizes received, and all withdrawal requests. This data is necessary for platform operation and financial record keeping. (h) Phone Number: if you choose to receive SMS notifications, we collect your mobile phone number. This is optional and used only for challenge notifications. (i) Video Recordings: when you use Chalio Live, we record and store video of your challenge attempt. This video is associated with your account and the specific challenge. (j) Trading Data: we collect and store all trading activity on the platform including shares purchased, prices paid, sides selected (YES or NO), trade amounts, and position outcomes. This data is used to operate the AMM pricing engine, calculate payouts, maintain trading history, and display public statistics. Trading history including win/loss records, completion rates, and tier rankings are publicly visible on user profiles to enable informed trading decisions by other participants.
We use the information we collect to: operate and maintain the Platform; process transactions and distribute prizes; verify your identity and prevent fraud; send you account-related notifications; improve the Platform and develop new features; comply with legal obligations; enforce our Terms of Service; display your challenger profile information publicly to help competitors make informed skill-based decisions; maintain accurate balance records for all users; process deposits and withdrawals through Stripe; send notifications when your entry window closes or when a challenge you entered is resolved; send SMS notifications about challenges you have joined when you opt in; store and display video recordings of challenges for verification and viewing by challenge participants; calculate real-time AMM share prices based on aggregate trading activity; maintain permanent public records of challenger performance history to enable skill-based trading decisions; display tier rankings, completion rates, and win streaks publicly on challenger profiles.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with: (a) Stripe, Inc. for payment processing — Stripe's privacy policy applies to their handling of your payment data; (b) Supabase for database hosting and storage; (c) Vercel for platform hosting; (d) Law enforcement or government agencies when required by law or to protect the safety of any person; (e) Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice provided to you; (f) Video recordings made through Chalio Live are viewable by all users who participated in the associated challenge — both those who joined on the YES side and those who joined on the NO side.
The following information is publicly visible on Chalio by default: your username, profile photo, win/loss record, challenge history, reputation score, and any challenger profile information you provide when creating a challenge including your About Me, why you will succeed, what doubters should know, age, location, fun fact, and social media handles. Do not provide any information in your challenger profile that you wish to keep private. Social media handles you provide will be displayed as clickable links allowing competitors to view your public social media profiles.
When you provide social media handles on Chalio, we display these as clickable links to your public profiles on third party platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, and YouTube. Chalio does not access, store, or process any data from these third party platforms beyond the handle you provide. Users who click your social media links will be subject to the privacy policies of those respective platforms. You may remove your social media handles at any time by contacting info@chalio.co.
The following trading-related information is publicly visible on Chalio: challenger completion rate, win/loss record, current and longest win streaks, tier ranking (Rookie, Contender, Veteran, Elite), total challenges posted and completed, and category performance breakdown. This information is displayed publicly because it is essential to the skill-based nature of the platform — competitors must be able to research a challenger's history to make an informed trading decision. By posting a challenge on Chalio you consent to your performance history being publicly displayed.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), encrypted password storage, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. You use the Platform at your own risk.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information; opt out of certain data uses; and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@chalio.co. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA.
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Platform and understand usage patterns. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features of the Platform may not function properly as a result.
Chalio is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
